Before and After

Have you every heard of a talking toad? Before toads work, they need to fully understand the problem. So here, I believe Herr Toad and Friend Bob are trying to figure out how they will get the steel onto the porch roof. Of course, they may be considering something completely different.

Nevertheless, they did manage to get some of the roof up before yet another snow storm.

West Porch and a Place for Toad

In this photo, taken Wednesday, April 13th, you can see our new construction crew building the porch or deck. Tomorrow the plywood will probably be going on.

The landscaping needs a lot of work yet, but the daffodils, planted prior to the big snowstorm are creating a hopeful Toad. the concrete on the hill is waiting for the day when we will have a concrete toad party, 'schmucking' the concrete onto a form.  The end result you ask?--a six foot toad. Believe it or not!

Not all Toads live at Ground Level

The rooftop work is a hoppin' at the House of Toads. The east side roof that includes the gallery and commercial kitchen received it's red steel roof on Saturday, April 9th. Herr and Madam Toad carried the 22 foot long steel from the pile to the base of the ladder and the engineering Toad brain figured out a strategy for safely hoisting each sheet into it's place.

The following photo shows Herr Toad looking over his work, the long steel sheets in place.

And here, Herr Toad is measuring twice, cutting once, the pieces of steel that hold the sofit.

We are grateful the rain held off. By the end of the day, this section of roof was complete.

Toad Pond in the Spring

The photograph was taken on April 5, 2011. In the foreground you see the Toad Pond  and to the south, you can see the progress on Toad House with the various additions and roof lines. You can just make out the back door that allows food to be carried from the kitchen to the back patio. In the center of the picture is where Phyllis tells me the troll is hiding. You must touch the magic rock to protect you and all the little toads from the troll when entering this enchanted woods.

But the question is, "Where are the toads?"
