Visions of Beauty

In keeping Master Toad's creative juices flowing, we will occasionally indulge in a breakfast at the Family Restaurant. If we sit at a booth next to the windows, we can see the Rapunzel Tower. While sipping our coffee we muse about toad house and the various parts of the project.

Now that the tower and new roof are up, we are thinking about the exterior look of the building. Here is the artist/architect rendition of what is seen in the mind's eye of the Master Toad. Of course, we never bring paper. The current drawing was done on a the waitress's order pad. Most of Master Toad's drawings have been on napkins.
Looking at Toad House from Highway 8 (Lake Avenue). The current vision is a stucco look with dark timbers. Red brick, to match the brick garage will ring the entire building when finished, below the lower windows.

The Views from the Tower

Yoder Construction has finished the tower and office/studio construction!  All the red roofing steel for the two story and three story sections of Toad House are on and the windows in the new construction are in place.
Here you can see the front entrance and tower with the windows in place.

Having climbed the three stories, you can see out of the east tower window. You are looking east along Highway 8.

And now you are looking out of the south window, looking to the south-east.

From the same window, look now to the south-west.

Here you are looking out of the west tower window looking to the west.

Stay tuned for the next blog where I will share the Master Toad's current vision for the finishing of the front of the building. (Drum roll, please)

Steel going up, Insulation going on.

Here we are in the coldest days of January with Yoder construction up on top the Rapunzel Tower. The tower has created quite a stir, being the only sky scraper in Ladysmith.

Rapunzel Tower is Up!

After a nice hibernation and visit to the south, the toads are back at work. On Monday, the Rapunzel tower went up, complete with trusses. On Tuesday, the plywood went up on the tower and the main roof went down.
