Peace on a Sunday afternoon

With the north patio nearing completion AND the Pizza Oven with the base of support in place AND the addition of some lovely patio furniture and umbrellas, it was time to celebrate friendship and reaffirm the mission of Toad House.

The Peace Circle is a small group of friends who meet monthly for a short time of silent reflection and discussion. Recently they have met at Toad House.  The gathering on August 18th included a time to create and the creations are now curing, waiting for September 22nd for the next Peace Circle when we will walk the grounds of Toad House with the Peace Stones that have been created and when a particular location speaks to an individual, they will place the stone.  The Peace Circle created more than one stone, so please join us on the 22nd and add to the peacefulness and beauty of Toad House.

Here are a few photos of our process from Mary Heinz. Thanks Mary! (and an especially loving thanks to Toad!)

Lovely Music at Toad House

A week ago we were treated to some lovely cello and violin music by Allie Thompson. Playing with her on the violin in a duet was Jonathan Stanley. Following the string music, we listened to the blues by a young gifted guitar player, Sage Leary.

Allie Thompson has been one of the faces you have seen behind the bakery/coffee counter at Toad House. We have so appreciated the help she and Josh Lee have given us these first few weeks of  the opening of the bakery and coffee shop and we will miss them dearly.

Nature Sketching with Janelle

On Saturday, a group of children learned sketching techniques with Janelle Thompson. Learning to look for basic lines and shapes in nature, they were able to sketch various objects. Sketching is a basic artist's tool, whether the sketching translates into oil, pastel, watercolor, pen and ink, or acrylics. It is terrific to have someone as gifted as Janelle guide children's artistic development!

The Blues and more with the Toads!

Tomorrow, Saturday August 3, Sage Leary, Allie Thompson, and Josh Lee will treat us to their own special music.  It will be a farewell to Alli, cellist, who has helped us with the coffee shop this past month. She will be traveling back to Florida to continue in the New World Symphony.  Josh, who will be leaving in another month for Carnegie Mellon, is a gifted Tuba player.  You will be in for a treat, hearing Josh play.  Sage Leary is an up and coming blues musician. Sage writes his own music and plays the guitar.

We hope you will join the Toads for a great, late afternoon at Toad House!
