Transforming

Winter Magic is almost here and with the individuals practicing and the artwork by Susanne von Schroeder and Nancy Wheeler going up, Things are magically transforming.

I would ask that those of you who come to Winter Magic try to leave the upper parking lot for seniors who need to park a little closer.  The lower parking lot has 5 or 6 spaces and the entrance, through the woods is easier to navigate, and less steep than the driveway.

Thanks so much!  And thank you for taking time to come!

Artist Trading Cards--miniature creations of beauty

Ruth Meszaros has created and traded many of these little jewels over the last few years. Today she brought them to Toad House along with supplies for the Artsy Kids to make their own. Many miniatures were created. Some were kept by their owners and some were traded with Ruth, Mme. Toad, and each other.

Please note, we will not have a class next Saturday, but on December 1st, the artsy toads will play all day! Children will make ornaments at a table with Andrea and other artists while listening to great music from very talented musicians, browsing the artwork of Susanne von Schroeder, the unique boxes of Clarence and Sue Anderson, and the weavings of Nancy Wheeler.

The Wisconsin Sheep Cheese Cooperative will have cheese for you to sample and buy. A Legacy Truffle will be sweeten with any art purchase over $20.00.

Music by Matt Zacharias, the Notables, John Mataczynski & friends, and Jonathan Stanley. At 1:00 the winners of Name that Toad will be announced.

Here are a few photos from today's artsy day in miniature.

Toad House hosts Girl Scouts from Phillips and Park Falls

Cathy Pritzl, Girl Scout leader extraordinaire from the Park Falls, Phillips area, brought 26 girls and eleven leaders to Toad House on November 3rd.  We had a wonderful time getting to know our neighbors to the east. The young ladies were so very well mannered and eager to do the three activities we had set up for them. We hope they had as much fun as we did.  Here are some of the photos from our afternoon with the Girl Scouts.

These three pictures are from the watercolor activity.  The girls used a variety of techniques to create beautiful designs that they took home and made into greeting cards.
This photograph is from a project using natural materials gathered from the lawn at toad house and some brightly colored tissue. The end result -- sun catchers for a window.

Janelle Thompson taught the girlscouts to sketch simple objects found in nature by looking closely at the shape within the objects.  Everyone drew a very believable toad.

Toadally Artsy Kids learn watercolor techniques

This watercolor class was last Saturday morning. In the afternoon, Girl Scouts from Phillips and Park Falls joined us at Toad House and explored sketching, watercolor, and window art.  Those pictures will be on the next blog.

Baily shows us two different watercolor techniques.
Bonnie and her grandchildren, Noah and Chloe, enjoy the day.
One gorgeous piece....
