One toad, Two toed

The toads are busily preparing for the Sneak Peek at Toad House. One of the projects is to delineate the upper parking lot area. Bufo had the following idea.

Visitors to the Enchanted Woods at Toad House

This past week Peter and Anney Olson brought two classes of summer school students to the woods at Toad House. It was wonderful to have visitors to the woods. Here are a few photos.

Bufo enjoys Music in the Park

Bufo had a lovely time last Thursday evening listening to the music. Music in the Park is a RAAA sponsored activity that draws a crowd of people who enjoy hanging out (like our Bufo) at the park with lawn chairs, blankets, or just lounging on the grass. It is great to see young and old at these summertime music events at Memorial Park.

Begging Bufo

I recently found some photos of Bufo from about a month ago. He certainly is the man about town and loves getting out into the community. Here he is checking out the Hindloopen art display in the library by Mona Kochendorfer and her student Rose Anderson. It is not known whether he is an aficionado of folk art.

However it is know that he has an affinity for flies and other insects. Perhaps he thinks Larry is trapping some for him.

Pond

The Enchanted Woods continues to enchant Mme. Toad. With the pond, flanked by numerous paths, the woods is just the right size for the hobbits, elven folk, gnomes, fairies, and toads that live under the leaves and rocks and in the trees.

The trolls have done little damage with their dastardly litter because the children who live nearby visit often and keep the troll on his best behavior––and of course, toads never litter.

The toads have exactly four weeks until the sneak peak at Toad House. Here is your invitation for the day.  It is the Saturday of Mardi Gras and along Main Street the arts and crafts festival will be taking place. We hope you take the time to visit and if you tire of walking, please come to Toad House. Sit a spell and enjoy the beautiful artwork by Janelle Thompson.

More from toad House

Rick Wood built two beautiful adirondack chairs that we have in the corner of the Toad House property. Here he is signing the chairs.

You will see more of his work after the Mardi-Gras. Bufo asked Mme. Toad what this work will be.

Will it be more chairs? No.
Will it be rabbit? No.
What will it be? What will it be?

To quote Gollum from The Hobbit "Patience, my precious!"

Toads Love Flowers!

It was beautiful day. The sun had come out in the afternoon following a soaking rain. It was the kind of rain that Bufo and Mme Toad love best. Bufo loves it because of the fresh cool air the rain brings and Mme Toad loves it because the ground is perfect for digging in the dirt and planting flowers.

The two of them were on their way to the lovely toad house to do just that when along the way they noticed a friend sitting on the ground. Bufo wanted to know if she was talking with another toad, and if so, would she introduce him. Mme Toad thought she was planting flowers. So they doubled back to find out. This is what they found.

Kathleen was out planting flowers. Bufo was only mildly disappointed that she wasn't chatting with another toad. He is considering a new quilt for next winter's hibernation.

Toad progress report

There is definitely a lot of progress both outside and inside at Toad House. Inside the big toad is working on the floor in the Ellingboe Gallery. He is chipping off the old lineoleum before sanding the floor in all the rooms with wood flooring.
Outside Josh Lee is working on the beautification of the front porch. He is staining the railings right now. As usual, Bufo is curious about what is happening.
In real life Josh is a musician and has many ideas for the musical activities of Toad House.

The philanthropic toad

RAAA artists and Highschool art students will be creating artistic toads to be auctioned in the fall. Money raised from the auction will go into the enrichment fund began by Carol and Wayne Gulstad.
