More Blokes on the Block

Herr Toad and I are excited to have some new energy on the construction crew. Aaron is proving himself to be a great asset in getting the remodeling of Toad House up and moving at a new pace. Aaron has a masters degree from Arizona State University in dance.  If you come to Chalice Stream for the summer concerts in July, you will be able to meet Aaron.

This photo gives you an idea of how well our two blokes work together. And who is that in the background with the red hair and the yellow suit?  Should we hire him also?  He does seem to fit in.

Whoops, sorry.  Wrong photo.
Here is the real Aaron at work getting a new window installed.

And I needed to share another Enchanted Woods photo. Two toads were digging in the dirt planting gifts of flowers at the edge of the woods.  The sedum and hosta are from Judy. The iris were salvaged from the Ellingboe house before the grading began. The annuals, Johnie-Jump-Ups, maple trees, and wood violets were gifts from Phyllis.

But Hark!  We have seen the troll and he is not to be trifled with.  More about the troll that inhabits the Enchanted Woods next time.

Back to Blokes, but this time -- Bricks not Blocks!

If you recall, (or if you don't you can check out some of the very first blogs--BLOCKS BLOKES AND BOULDERS) the first efforts to create Toad House was to deal with the rubble foundation. After about 8 months we are now on the outside finishing. Ken and his helper (both shy fellows) were cleaning the brick this morning when I stopped by to plant a few more flowers. We are thrilled with their work and think we will see more of them this summer for some help with the garage and the patio.
Here you can see Ken's attention to detail on the north side of Toad House. The back door from the kitchen is visible behind Ken. I hope to have some video of the grading work that will be done by Ken's dad when the weather warms up and the soil is dryer.
